The officers approached the vehicle, questioned the driver, and then, without probable cause, demanded Mr. Osman's identification. After Mr. Osman complied and provided his information but was unable to produce physical ID, the officers arrested him, claiming failure to carry identification was grounds for arrest. He was then taken to the 67th Precinct, where he was held, interrogated, and subjected to coercive tactics, including false claims of a search warrant for his home.\n\nMr. Osman was detained until approximately 12:30 AM on March 1, 2023, at which point he was released with a ticket for allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. The complaint alleges that the actions of the officers were unjustified, caused him psychological distress, and resulted in physical injuries, particularly to his wrists. The charges against Mr. Osman were later dismissed.
