While being arrested, the plaintiff was bitten by police K-9's, pushed against a metal fence and forcefully moved back and forth sideways.  The defendant police officers overreacted to a non crime situation, deploying helicopters and K-9's, ultimately resulting in physical injuries (unspecified) to plaintiff and to a lesser extent his grandmother.  Since the arrest, plaintiff claims he has been harassed by members of the NYPD through unwarranted stops and searches.\n\nOn February 19, 2016, plaintiff was pulling out of the driveway of his aunt's house in Brooklyn when he was pulled over by an NYPD officer and asked to show his license.  Plaintiff complied and the officer apparently ran the license and came back to plaintiff's car informing him that there was an \"I card\" issued for him and that he was under arrest.  Plaintiff was taken to the precinct in Brooklyn where he was held overnight and transferred to Central Booking the next morning.  Plaintiff was then transferred to the 105th Precinct, the same precinct involved in harassing plaintiff in 2007.  Plaintiff was told he was being taken to see a \"familiar face,\" defendant detective Shawn Ward.  In 2007, both plaintiff and his grandmother had sued defendant Ward for his physically abusive actions.   Defendant Ward began interrogating plaintiff despite being told by plaintiff's counsel that he knew nothing of the \"bogus\" criminal charges against him.  Later on February 20, 2017, plaintiff was transferred to Queens Central Booking and charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (2 counts), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree.  Plaintiff was released on his own recognizance, despite the gravity of the crimes charged.  Against plaintiff's wishes, plaintiff's counsel accepted an ACD on his behalf on March 13, 2017.  On September 13, 2017, all charges against plaintiff were dismissed.  On October 12, 2017, plaintiff moved the Court to withdraw his plea to an adjournment in contemplation of the dismissal and to restore the charges against him so he could fight them to a full dismissal on the merits. Defendants came through the front door, screaming, and demanded that Plaintiff come with them. When Plaintiff asked what was going on, Defendants maced him, and he fell to the ground. Defendants twisted Plaintiff’s hand and arm, injuring him, including the fifth metacarpal on his right hand. Notwithstanding that Mr. Sandiford was already in cuffs, Defendants continued to assault him, including by macing him again, punching him, and striking him with a police radio. Defendants arrested Mr. Sandiford without probable cause or reasonable suspicion and took him to a police precinct. At the precinct, the officers falsely informed employees of the Kings County District Attorney’s Office that they had observed Plaintiff obstruct governmental administration resisting arrest, and prepared false paperwork, including an arrest report. At the precinct, Plaintiff requested medical attention but was denied the same. After approximately three hours, Defendants contacted EMS, and Plaintiff was taken to Beth Israel Medical Center for treatment. Plaintiff was eventually returned to the precinct and then taken to Brooklyn Central Booking. Plaintiff was arraigned in Kings County Criminal Court, where he was released on his own recognizance after spending approximately 24 hours in custody.
