Officer Haste then threatened to shoot Graham's grandmother, Plaintiff Patricia Hartley, and several officers physically prevented her from making a phone call. Graham's mother, Plaintiff Constance Malcolm, was physically prevented from speaking with Hartley by NYPD officers who restrained and locked Hartley in a room. NYPD officers aggressively interrogated Hartley by cursing at her, pushing her make false statements, delaying access to her attorney, and refusing to allow her to leave for almost 7 hours.
