Defendant police officers Hendricks, Carinha, Clifford and others subsequently made false statements to the DA's office in order to charge plaintiff with second degree murder. \n\nWhile incarcerated, plaintiff was subjected to solitary confinement, injuries by other inmates and was denied his right to a speedy trial. Plaintiff pled guilty to manslaughter under duress but his conviction was finally overturned in 2018.
