The defendants then handcuffed Mr. Wright-Leslie in an excessively tight fashion, causing him severe pain and discomfort. \n\nThe defendants transported Mr. Wright-Leslie to the precinct, where Officer Villacis authored and signed a criminal complaint stating that Mr. Wright-Leslie had been illegally parked, engaged in disorderly conduct, and obstructed governmental administration. NYPD officers, including Lt. Salman Asghar and Officer Anthony Villacis, responded to the call. Despite Khalil being the one who sought help, the officers arrested her without any reasonable suspicion or probable cause. Khalil was unlawfully detained and transported to the 62nd Precinct, where her religious headscarf (hijab) was forcibly removed, and she was denied the opportunity to replace it during her detention and booking process. Khalil was later transferred to Central Booking, where she continued to be denied her religious rights. The charges against Khalil were dismissed the following day when the District Attorney declined to prosecute.
