The defendants then, without a court-ordered warrant, reasonable suspicion or probable cause, illegally searched Mr. Gontrand and his cousin's vehicle. The defendants then tightly handcuffed Mr. Gontrand and ignored his pleas to loosen then handcuffs when he complained they were too tight, which caused him substantial pain and discomfort.\n\nThe defendants then transported Mr. Gontrand to the 75th Precinct and illegally interrogated him. While he was in custody, the defendant, Officer Bhuiyan signed a supporting deposition in which he falsely swore that he observed Mr. Gontrand criminally possessing a weapon. The defendants were aware that Mr. Gontrand was on parole at the time of his unlawful arrest and that it would violate the conditions of his parole and he would be incarcerated again. Nevertheless, Mr. Gontrand was transferred to Central Booking, then to the Brooklyn Detention Complex for approximately two days, and then to Riker's Island where he remained imprisoned for approximately eight months until he was released on or about April 1, 2020.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=f0_PLUS_I90Iy92MvCe7LRKzdUg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Nixon, Shameik vs Po Theobald, Adrian, et al.","start_date":"2021-01-21","disposition_date":"2023-06-22","payout_amount":68000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"19CV05032","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","summary":"On January 13, 2018, late at night, plaintiff Shameik Nixon arrived at his grandmother's apartment where defendants Sergeant Robert Martinez, Lieutenant Bobo, Officer Adrian Theobald, Officer Luis Naranjo, Officer Louis Stephenson, Officer Ramil Casimir, and Officer Noel Damico were present.
