Robinson had been waiting on a public street for his girlfriend when defendant officers bum-rushed and grabbed him. They tightly handcuffed him, subjected him to illegal searches on the street and again in the precinct, and repeatedly ignored Robinson's requests to know the basis for his arrest. Neither unlawful search recovered any contraband from the Plaintiff. Plaintiff was first forcibly transported to the NYPD-Midtown South Precinct, then to Central Booking. Perez was conversing inside the restaurant when Ambrosio, Reed, and Lazar entered the restaurant and placed handcuffs on Perez. The officers lacked an arrest warrant, probable cause, reasonable cause or any legal justification, approached Perez for no reason, and based on fraud, perjury and misrepresentations, and summarily stopped, searched, grabbed, assaulted, battered, and detained him in an aggressive and excessive manner. The officers refused to inform Perez of the reason for his arrest before searching him and taking him to the Midtown South precinct. At the precinct, Perez was punched in the face by Sergeant Lazar and punched multiple times in the head. It was not until Perez was taken to central booking that he learned he was being charged with possession of a controlled substance, despite the fact the search conducted by the NYPD officers produced no evidence of Perez's possession of such a substance. The case against Perez was dropped on September 6, 2023.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=JKDvLucurK3J7232AvnuIA==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Demunn, Trenton vs City of Ny, et al.","start_date":"2022-11-21","disposition_date":"2023-04-10","payout_amount":75000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"159878/2022","court":"Supreme Court - New York","summary":"On February 9, 2022, several NYPD officers, including Nicholas Frazier, Michael Ambrosio, and Sergeant Darin Lazar, approached Plaintiff. When Mr. Law demanded an explanation and to be released, Officer Lazar twisted Mr. Law's arms behind his back, scooped his legs out from under him, and threw him on to the pavement. The officers then jammed their knees into Mr. Law's back, pushing his face and body into the concrete and causing him to bleed from his face. The officers then handcuffed Mr. Law, deliberately too tightly, such that he could not feel his fingertips. The officers refused to loosen the handcuffs, and also refused Mr. Law's requests for medical attention once he had been transported to the precinct. Although Mr. Law eventually received medical treatment in the form of a bandage, the officers attempted to dissuade him from requesting treatment, instructing him not to do so and threatening that if he insisted on medical treatment he would spend twice as long in custody.
