Plaintiffs were outside the residence when several New York City Police officers, including Defendant Cleveland, approached them. The officers asked what they were doing and the Plaintiffs informed them that they were visiting their friend. Plaintiffs asked why the officers were questioning them and they informed the Plaintiffs that they were conducting an investigation. The officers then searched the Plaintiffs and found nothing illegal, but they told the Plaintiffs they had to come to the police precinct. The Plaintiffs were handcuffed and transported to the 70th Precinct, where they were placed into holding cells and were individually and separately questioned by detectives. Plaintiffs were denied food and water for ten hours.
