Hope was diagnosed with scoliosis and lived with his family including his mother. While he was at home at Queens, the police, without announcing that they are the police, loudly banged on the door as if they were going to break through the door. When Hope's mother opened the door, they officers barged in without a justifiable cause, making Hope's mother fall down and injured. The officers as soon as they entered, began to damage items inside including lock on the door and assaulting people at Hope's home. One of Hope's friend was thrown to the ground, stomped, and kicked. Hope was handcuffed and taken to a different room where he was slammed against the banister, breaking the banister, and knocking Hope unconscious. Hope was subsequently strip searched and was dragged outside while being stripped. At no time did the officers capable of intervening intervene to stop each others' misconduct. Although the officers prosecuted Hope maliciously and presented false information to the King's County District Attorney's Office, all charges against Hope was ultimately dismissed.
