Plaintiff was tackled to the ground, struck and tased by at least some of Defendants police officers Tristian Trunk, Frank Beers, Thomas Owens, Mohammed Hyatt, Mario Bueno and John Lewis. Plaintiff was not in possession of a handgun and there was no reasonable basis to believe that he had fired a handgun. Despite this absence of sufficient legal cause, Plaintiff was arrested, handcuffed and transported to a NYPD station house where he was jailed. PO falsely claimed that they had witnessed Plaintiff commit various crimes, including the criminal possession and discharge of a handgun. Consequently, Plaintiff was charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. As Plaintiff was unable to post bail, he remained incarcerated for 20 months, from the time of his arrest through and beyond the final verdict following his trial. Plaintiff was finally acquitted on February 28, 2019.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=fVaik17Qnf8MquJOTB_PLUS_W1w==","type":"complaint"}]}],"discipline":[{"disposition_date":"2023-03-01","case_no":"2022-24743","penalty":"C - Command Discipline, training, vacation days (5 days)","recommendation":"Command Discipline - C","allegations":[{"desc":"Deactivated his body worn camera prematurely."},{"desc":"Omitted activity log entries."},{"desc":"Failed to activate body-worn camera."},{"desc":"Failed to prepare a property clerk's invoice worksheet, as required."},{"desc":"Failed to safeguard property."},{"desc":"Failed to safeguard seized property."}]},{"disposition_date":"2022-08-29","case_no":"2022-26822","recommendation":"Charges and Specifications","allegations":[{"desc":"Wrongful entry of a premises."},{"desc":"Wrongful seizure of a person's property."},{"desc":"Wrongful search of a premises."}]},{"disposition_date":"2022-08-16","case_no":"2022-26724","recommendation":"Other","allegations":[{"desc":"Failed to make required entries in Department logs."}]}],"documents":[{"url":"https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21027276-owens-a48225ec362c6ac6f04c0fe088ce7fd3c5a09682","type":"brady-giglio","complaints":[{"complaint_id":201809509,"available":true}]},{"url":"https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/21058605-owens-961051-05-24-21","type":"brady-giglio"}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/6LNT-thomas-owens.jpg","payroll":{"salary":"109352","regular":"108510","overtime":"43628","other":"19121","total":"171259"},"email":"thomas.owens@nypd.org","id":"6LNT","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/6LNT"}
