Upon assurance from the officers that she could leave her car and pick up her pizza because the ticket had already been issued, Ms. Diaz left her car and went inside to get her pizza. After leaving the pizza store, the officers started verbally harassing her and demanding to see her identification. After calling 911 and 311, Ms. Diaz was directed to the local precinct to file a complaint about the behavior of the two officers. \n\nAt the precinct, Ms. Diaz was waiting to file a complaint when the same two officers arrived along with another male officer who was identified as their supervisor, and the supervising officer directed the two officers to unlawfully arrest Ms. Diaz. She was charged with littering for throwing out the fire-hydrant ticket. After spending over 20 hours in custody, the judge ordered Ms. Diaz's release from custody because no arrest warrant had been issued for her arrest. The ticket for littering was dismissed on April 23, 2014.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.428811.2.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4522921/diaz-v-the-city-of-new-york/"},{"officer_name":"Sedan, Mark K.","disposition":"Settlement","start_date":"2012-02-23","disposition_date":"2015-12-08","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","docket":"12CV01354","name":"Matthews, Craig vs City of New York, et al.","payout_amount":255000,"summary":"The plaintiff Craig Mathews is a 14-year veteran police officer who has been subjected to a campaign of retaliation and harassment for having reported the existence of a highly developed quota system in the 42nd Precinct in the Bronx.","documents":[{"url":"https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/4927514-Matthews-v-City-of-New-York-et-al"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4350280/matthews-v-city-of-new-york/"},{"officer_name":"Sedan, Mark K.","disposition":"Settlement","start_date":"2010-03-12","disposition_date":"2013-02-01","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","docket":"10CV02172","name":"Stevens, Andre vs City of New York, et al.","payout_amount":90000,"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/12549783/stevens-v-the-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"Bailey v City of New York","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","payout_amount":7500,"disposition":"Settlement","summary":"Plaintiff's friend was involved in a domestic dispute and then came to her house.
