On March 10, 2017 Plaintiffs were taken into custody at the 113th precinct and questioned in connection with the shooting. Defendant Cruzado coerced Plaintiffs to confess to the shooting. Plaintiffs offered no confession. Cruzado arrested Plaintiffs without any warrants. Defendants provided false information to the Queens DA initiating a criminal prosecution against Plaintiffs. Plaintiffs were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court and bail was set in the amount of $50,000.00 each, an amount they could not pay or obtain a bond to cover. Plaintiffs were taken into custody at Riker's Island where they remained for seven days until they were released on their own recognizance because no indictment was secured against them. Plaintiffs made 6 court appearances after the arraignment.
