Eric Dym falsely arrested Monae Grant (\"Plaintiff\") and used excessive and unreasonable force. Plaintiff was sitting her friends on a bench outside of her apartment building known as the JOhn Adam Houses. Defendant Dym scared Plaintiff into providing identification without having any legal authority to do so. Defendant Dym grabbed Plaintiff and pulled her right arm up behind her body beyond the point where it could move freely. Plaintiff was transported to the NYPD's Public Service Area 7 Precinct. At the precinct, Plaintiff complained about the pain in her elbow, but an officer told her that if she wanted to go to the hospital, it would take longer to process her arrest and she was given a sling. \n\nIn an effort to cover-up Lt. Dym’s conduct, Officer Elena Pelengaris, an officer in Lt. Dym’s command, falsely accused Ms. Grant of committing disorderly conduct. There was no basis for the charge and the criminal case was later dismissed. Officer Pelengaris also issued Ms. Grant two civil summonses falsely accusing her of being in a park after hours and drinking an alcoholic beverage, neither of which was true. At an administrative hearing, an OATH officer heard Ms. Grant’s testimony, found her credible, and dismissed both civil summonses.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=yOvBXmyiXirK/D6mVC9lzw==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Gathright, Nathaniel, et al. vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2020-06-12","disposition_date":"2022-08-16","payout_amount":50000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"025650/2020E","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","officer_name":"Pelengaris, Elena","summary":"On August 22, 2019, plaintiff was lawfully in the vicinity of 721 Tinton Avenue, Bronx, when defendant police officers, without any probable cause or legal justification other than plaintiff's race, approached plaintiff and stopped, questioned, grabbed, and restrained plaintiff. Defendants then arrested plaintiff with tight handcuffs, causing substantial pain. Plaintiff was then transported to a police precinct, where he was processed and searched. Defendants employed illegal interrogation tactics and threatened plaintiff with criminal prosecution. Defendants then fabricated allegations that plaintiff was resisting arrest and that he swung a fist at one of the defendant officers, so that plaintiff could be criminally prosecuted during arraignment. All charges against plaintiff were eventually dismissed in plaintiff's favor. As a result of defendants' actions, plaintiff sustained severe physical injuries and emotional trauma.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=JKBO7oyUL_PLUS_hVfmiIm_PLUS_Qq3w==","type":"complaint"}]}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/7MGT-elena-pelengaris.jpg","payroll":{"salary":"109352","regular":"107051","overtime":"25896","other":"24712","total":"157659"},"id":"7MGT","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/7MGT"}
