Plaintiff had gotten into a verbal dispute with his girlfriend, and Detective John Frank and several unidentified NYPD officers approached them and asked why they had been arguing. Plaintiff's girlfriend explained that this was only a verbal disagreement and everything had been resolved. The officers continued to pressure the two to disclose the content of their disagreement, and Plaintiff informed the officers that the dispute was personal in nature and asked the officers to respect their privacy. The officers, evidently angered by Plaintiff's statement, placed Plaintiff into handcuffs and under arrest notwithstanding that they had no probable cause to believe Plaintiff had committed any crimes.\n\nPlaintiff was transported to the police precinct, and the officers falsely informed the Queens County DA's office that they had observed Plaintiff commit various crimes. Plaintiff was transported to Queens Central Booking and arraigned. Plaintiff spent approximately two days in custody and appeared in court on December 15, 2014, when his criminal case was adjourned in contemplation of dismissal before being dismissed on February 13, 2015.
