The plaintiff experienced extreme emotional distress during these events, including being transported in an unsafe manner in a police van, and being strip-searched without cause.\n\nThe defendants provided false information to the District Attorney's Office, leading to the plaintiff being falsely charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. The plaintiff endured nearly a year of criminal prosecution, appearing in court about 10 times before the charges were dismissed on October 11, 2017. As a result of this ordeal, the plaintiff missed several days of school and work, and suffered emotional distress, including paranoia and embarrassment.
