His bail was set at $15,000. Unable to immediately pay it, Edwards was sent to Rikers Island for approximately two days. After his release, Edwards had to wear an ankle monitor until his trial. Edwards was acquitted on all charges on May 2023 after a two-week-long trial. Officer McCurry then, without instructions or explanation, picked up D.M. from behind, slammed him onto the hood of the car, and pressed on his back before searching him.  D.M. called his father, Devon Mills, who came to the scene and attempted to speak to Officers McCurry and Vigiano.  Officers McCurry and Vigiano drove away without speaking to Mr. Mills and did not issue any ticket, summons, nor did they charge D.M. with any crime.  \n\nFollowing the incident, D.M. filed a Civilian Complaint Review Board (\"CCRB\") complaint against Officers McCurry and Vigiano. No contraband of any kind was recovered from either the vehicle or Plaintiff's person. Nevertheless, Plaintiff was arrested and charged with \"Improper Coating on Side Windows.\" Plaintiff was taken to the 75th Precinct, and then Kings County Central Booking.
