The officers told plaintiff that Detective Morand had instructed them to bring plaintiff to the precinct. Plaintiff explained that he had spoken with the detective before and the tenancy issue was a civil matter, not criminal. The officers insisted that plaintiff leave with them. While inside his home with the officers, plaintiff showed them documents relating the rental transaction for which he was being arrested. The officers arrested plaintiff and took him to a precinct. At the precinct, another detective asked plaintiff why he was held in the cell. After hearing plaintiff's explanations, the detective called Detective Morand saying that they had no reason for arresting and detaining plaintiff.
