On March 10, 2021, Hafif went to the NYPD 61st Precinct and was assured that anyone who was seen vandalizing at the riot that night would be arrested, this was specifically said by Officer Thomas Costarella and this promise was accompanied by Officer Costarella's personal phone number. During the riot later that night, Hafif called Officer Costarella over 20 times and every call was ignored. There were over 1,000 rioters who stayed until 2AM and a police report was not taken this night. On March 11, 2021, Hafif was arrested by NYPD members of the 61st Precinct.
