L.W. approached two NYPD officers, Melissa L. Stines and Jonathan Gomez, after being unable to proceed through the subway turnstile due to not having her student metro card. Officer Gomez told L.W. to proceed without paying. After L.W. boarded the train, Officer Stines demanded that she exit, but L.W. could not leave as the train doors closed. At the next station, the officers forcibly removed L.W., twisted her arm, and handcuffed her, causing a left shoulder strain requiring a sling for two weeks. L.W. also experienced emotional distress and humiliation during the arrest and detention, including when officers ignored her request for menstrual hygiene products while she was held in a cell. On June 8, 2023, L.W. filed a notice of claim, alleging assault, battery, unlawful seizure, and other violations by the officers.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=dBwin2d1OQp/wtrZ1dwHvA==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Charles, Patricia as Mng of W.
