Plaintiff was pulled over in the vicinity of Seaman Avenue and Dykman Street in Manhattan at about 7:00 pm by Defendant NYPD Officers James Coppola and Enlirat Gjevukaj. Plaintiff and his friend Mr. Barnes were ordered out of the vehicle and searched, and the vehicle was then searched. Defendants claimed to have recovered a gravity knife from inside the vehicle. Plaintiff's friend Ms. Jackson complained about the basis of the arrest and said she would make a complaint, prompting the defendants to arrest plaintiff and drive him to the 34th Precinct for processing. Plaintiff's father, a retired law enforcement officer, was informed at the precinct that plaintiff was arrested because Ms. Jackson was \"running her mouth.\" Plaintiff was arrested for criminal possession of a weapon, despite continuously denying possessing a knife or having any knowledge of it. Plaintiff was suspended by the NYC Department of Education, his employer given his profession as a teacher, after notifying the DOE of his arrest.
