The defendants proceeded to physically restrain Plaintiff while violently contorting his arms behind his back before finally affixing metal handcuffs to Plaintiff’s wrists in an excessively tight fashion, which caused Plaintiff to sustain substantial physical pain and injuries to his back, neck, arms, hands and wrists. Defendants then proceeded to illegally search Plaintiff’s person by subjecting Plaintiff to illegal strip-searches with attendant cavity inspections of his person, despite the clear lack of any indicia of secreted contraband or unlawful activity to justify such invasive procedures. Defendants then caused a criminal court complaint to be filed against Plaintiff in Bronx County Criminal Court, which falsely accused Plaintiff of committing the crime of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh-Degree. On October 22, 2020, all charges were summarily and unconditionally dismissed and sealed.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=p2bNw5o7oyF3uIKpjKw7gg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Salas, Juan C. vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2018-02-12","disposition_date":"2022-06-06","payout_amount":110000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"021595/2018E","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","officer_name":"Fernandez, Diony","summary":"On August 18, 2017, Plaintiff Juan Salas was at 513 Concord Avenue, Bronx, in the 2nd floor theater, when Defendant Officers Oswald, Fernandez, and John Does assaulted and battered Plaintiff.
