While School Safety Agents Ruperto and Barrios were physically moving the son to the dean's office, they pushed the son from behind, causing him to land head and face first on the floor. The son experienced a concussion, contusions, and loss of consciousness. Joseph Burbano pressed his knee into the son's neck and head during and after putting the son in handcuffs. Ruberto and Barrios also took away the son's possessions and the agents detained him in handcuffs for two hours at the dean's office. They moved him to the precinct, where NYPD officers denied his mother's requests to see him and prevented the son from receiving his anti-anxiety medication and epi pens. He was detained for 48 hours before he was released to his mother and could go to the emergency room. The DOE and NYPD failed to investigate the incident.
