That day, plaintiff had joined a peaceful protect against ICE practices.  Upon exiting Washington Square Park, plaintiff heard police start announcing on a loudspeaker that anyone in the streets would be arrested, so plaintiff and her friends immediately tried to disperse, but they were quickly kettled in by the aforementioned officers.  Those officers shoved plaintiff several times, threw her to the ground, and arrested her.  The officers made it impossible for most of the protestors to disperse by trapping them.  At no point did plaintiff commit a crime or resist arrest, but the officers restrained her with painful plastic handcuffs, yanked her by her ponytail, and slammed her face into the ground during the course of her arrest.  Plaintiff was transported to 1 Police Plaza against her will, where she was unlawfully photographed, subjected to unlawful search, and detained in a holding cell.  While in custody, plaintiff's request for water was ignored.  After 10 hours in custody, plaintiff was released with a desk appearance ticket for Obstructing Governmental Administration.  The police officers provided the DA's office with false information that plaintiff had committed a crime. NYPD Officer Casey Thomas arrested Mr. Vale. Mr. Vale was then shackled to his hospital bed for 20 before he was finally arraigned on March 22, 2017, and released on his own recognizance. Both of Mr. Vale's legs and one of his arms were shacked to the hospital bed, causing him discomfort and pain. While Mr. Vale was shacked to his bed, he was guarded by different NYPD Officers.
