Two defendants exited an unmarked NYPD vehicle and approached plaintiff in an aggressive manner, causing plaintiff to fear for his safety. Defendants ordered plaintiff to stop and asked what he was carrying in his hand. Plaintiff said he was carrying his cell phone and showed defendants. Defendants asked plaintiff what he had in his pockets. Plaintiff said he had cash in his pockets, and asked why he was stopped when he had done nothing wrong. Defendants told plaintiff they would throw him to the ground and search him if he did not cooperate. Plaintiff spread his arms and legs so defendants could frisk and search him and said, \"go ahead and do what you need to do. Do you want to see my ID?\" One defendant tackled plaintiff in a rough manner and threw him face-first onto the ground. Defendants handcuffed plaintiff excessively tightly. A defendant grabbed the back of plaintiff's head, slammed his face into the pavement multiple times, and told him to \"shut the fuck up\". Defendants sprayed plaintiff in the eyes and mouth with a chemical substance believed to be Mace. Five additional defendants arrived at the scene. Plaintiff tried to tell the five defendants the two defendants beat him up. Defendants surrounded plaintiff and one kicked him in the right side of the face. Plaintiff was transported by EMS to Harlem Hospital Center, where he was treated for severe injuries to his body. On September 22, 2012, plaintiff was discharged from the hospital to the custody of defendants, who transported him to the 25th precinct. After many hours in a holding cell, plaintiff was transported to Manhattan Central Booking. Plaintiff was arraigned and the judge set bail at $1,500, which plaintiff could not post, so he was remanded to the custody of the DoC. Plaintiff received further medical treatment.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=9M/InZt0JaEZqm5JxOBmhQ==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Johnson, Lakisha vs Police Officer Alvarracin, Jazer, et al.","start_date":"2013-03-01","disposition_date":"2013-05-13","payout_amount":15000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"13CV01039","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","officer_name":"Rodriguez, Juan C.","summary":"On April 28, 2012, PO ALVARRACIN, RODRIGUEZ, ARMISTEAD, COLBY, and JOHN DOE patrolled inside Plaintiff’s Apartment and knocked on the door to turn the Plaintiff’s music down.
