Plaintiff, who is an insulin-dependent Type 1 Diabetic, was taken to a police precinct where she began to feel sick, nauseated, and dizzy. Plaintiff asked the Defendant Officers multiple times for her insulin medication or for medical attention, but they refused. After several hours, Plaintiff was taken to Staten Island University Hospital. She was then taken back to the precinct and then eventually to Richmond County Central Booking where she remained for several hours without her medication. After repeated requests from the Plaintiff for her medication and/or medical treatment, Defendants threatened to significantly extend her detention if she insisted on obtaining medical treatment. During her arraignment, Defendant felt dizzy and was unable to speak. Shortly after being released, a friend had to call an ambulance for the Plaintiff.
