Shortly after, two NYPD officers, officer Joshua Christian and sergeant Alexander Bustamante, detained the plaintiff and arrested him outside placing tight handcuffs on his wrists and holding him there for 20 minutes despite his complaints about the handcuffs. The Plaintiff was then transported to the 120th Police Precinct and was refused his necessary heart medication when he asked for them. The Plaintiff was arraigned in Richmond County Criminal Court on baseless charges. Officer Christian swore that the Plaintiff had been operating a motor vehicle that he and the other officer had pulled over and that the Plaintiff fled the scene and crashed the vehicle. Officer Bustamente swore he saw the Plaintiff flee into the deli. These charges were false. As a result the Plaintiff was imprisoned for 10 days and suffered further physical and emotional distress due to being denied his medication and compelled to return to court multiple times until July 30, 2019. The charges were dismissed and sealed on January 29, 2020.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nyed.474109/gov.uscourts.nyed.474109.14.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/61688718/leone-v-city-of-new-york/"},{"name":"Hoover, Trevor, et al. vs City of Ny","start_date":"2021-09-09","disposition_date":"2022-12-02","payout_amount":280000,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"21CV04783","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","summary":"On May 28, 2020, each Plaintiff was present at a protest in Kings County, New York in support of Black Lives Matter.
