Defendants brought Plaintiff to the 75th Precinct, refused him food and water or contact with friends and family and transported him to Central Booking. Defendants made false statements to prosecutors to obtain charges and a grand jury indictment against Plaintiff. Plaintiff could not make bail and was incarcerated at Rikers Island for two years on the false charges. On or about June 23, 2027, Plaintiff was tried and found not guilty of the charges. The Plaintiffs, Lori Dejesus (LORI) and Steven Dejesus (STEVEN) are married. Plaintiff Lori's mother and aunt took over a first floor apartment in Brooklyn before Lori's grandmother died. The Plaintiffs moved into the apartment on October 15, 2012 pursuant to a signed rental lease agreement with Lori's mother. The lease included the first floor apartment, basement, garage and backyard. Lori's aunt and uncle, Doris and Walwyn Stuart, lived in the second floor apartment. Doris passed away in October 2012. Walwyn passed away in June 2013. \n\nOn the day the Plaintiffs moved in, Deidre Dilbert (daughter of Doris and Walwyn; cousin of Lori) and her boyfriend broke into the apartment and harassed the plaintiffs. On December 12, 2012, Plaintiff Lori obtained a temporary order of protection against Deidre Dilbert. That order was violated on December 15 and 17th, resulting in Deidre Dilbert's arrest. \n\nOn January 31, 2013, Deidre Dilbert's brother, Edwyn Stuart (cousin of Lori and NYPD officer) knocked on Lori's door and entered the premises with NYPD officers without invitation. The Edwyn Stuart accused the Plaintiffs of being squatters and thieves. \n\nOn February 4, 2013 Edwyn Stuart returned with Detective Douglas Connors (Shield # 2106) and two unidentified detectives. Plaintiff Loriwas arrested for possession of stolen property. Plaintiff Lori was held in custody for approximately 24 hours. While she was in custody, her mother and Plaintiff Steven were barred entry to their home. On February 6, 2013, a police car parked outside the apartment for half an hour. On February 7, 2013, Plaintiff Lori obtained a temporary protection order against Edwyn Stuart. NYPD Sergeant Salmon (Shield #2836) and six other officers refused to serve the order on Edwyn Stuart. On February 8, 2013, P.O. Enks called Plaintiff Lori and abusively demanded that she drop the report against Deidre Dilbert. \n\nOn March 7, 2013, NYPD Police Officers Lee and Jordan attended the Plaintiff's home and brought them against their will to the precinct. They were kept there for 6 hours before being released with without charges. On March 9, 2013 an unidentiied plainclothes officer repeatedly rang the Plaintiffs doorbell and sat in his car outside the house for several hours. \n\nOn March 11, 2013 Edwyn Stuart and 12 Emergency Service Unit officers attended the Plaintiff's home with a battering ram. Plaintiff Lori was again arrested, handcuffedand held in a precinct cell for eight (8) hours. A female officer told Plaintiff Lori that \"Edwyn has a lot of friends here\".
