Perez was conversing inside the restaurant when Ambrosio, Reed, and Lazar entered the restaurant and placed handcuffs on Perez. The officers lacked an arrest warrant, probable cause, reasonable cause or any legal justification, approached Perez for no reason, and based on fraud, perjury and misrepresentations, and summarily stopped, searched, grabbed, assaulted, battered, and detained him in an aggressive and excessive manner. The officers refused to inform Perez of the reason for his arrest before searching him and taking him to the Midtown South precinct.  At the precinct, Perez was punched in the face by Sergeant Lazar and punched multiple times in the head. It was not until Perez was taken to central booking that he learned he was being charged with possession of a controlled substance, despite the fact the search conducted by the NYPD officers produced no evidence of Perez's possession of such a substance. The case against Perez was dropped on September 6, 2023.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=JKDvLucurK3J7232AvnuIA==","type":"complaint"}]}],"discipline":[{"disposition_date":"2024-02-26","case_no":"2024-29772","penalty":"Training","recommendation":"Training","allegations":[{"desc":"Violated patrol rules - refused to provide shield number"}]}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/CR2V-darrick-reed.jpg","payroll":{"salary":"109352","regular":"108510","overtime":"4141","other":"22547","total":"135198"},"id":"CR2V","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/CR2V"}
