Hafif called the NYPD and they sent 4 officers to take a report, the report was made for inciting a riot by Officer Parisi. Officer Parisi promised that him and his unit would arrest the rioters if they did not stop. The NYPD left 1 police car and the officers did not get out of their car. Once the officers left, the crowd grew to over 1,000 and they stayed until 2AM. On March 10, 2021, Hafif went to the NYPD 61st Precinct and was assured that anyone who was seen vandalizing at the riot that night would be arrested, this was specifically said by Officer Thomas Costarella and this promise was accompanied by Officer Costarella's personal phone number. During the riot later that night, Hafif called Officer Costarella over 20 times and every call was ignored. There were over 1,000 rioters who stayed until 2AM and a police report was not taken this night. On March 11, 2021, Hafif was arrested by NYPD members of the 61st Precinct. The officers then grabbed Plaintiff’s arm and slammed his head into the ground.
