NYPD pulled the taxi over with guns drawn, and immediately handcuffed and placed Mr. Bolds into custody to be charged with manslaughter and murder for a shooting that occurred on September 5, 2015. The NYPD and KCDA, specifically Detective Adam McLawhorn and District Attorney Lewis Lieberman, withheld Brady material concerning improper identification procedures. The witness told McLawhorn he was intoxicated when the shooting happened, was given alcohol by Lieberman during the ID procedure in McLawhorn's presence, and stated that he knew Mr. Bolds from the neighborhood but never saw the shooter. The withholding of this Brady material led to Mr. Bolds' remand, causing him to spend 5 years at Rikers awaiting trial.
