The Defendants demanded to speak to Mr. Ali. At the time, Ms. Ramirez informed the Defendants that Mr. Ali had been diagnosed with bipolar disease but the Defendants proceeded to crowd and aggressively approach Mr. Ali, exacerbating his mental condition. Then, without provocation or legal justification, the Defendants placed Mr. Ali under arrest, violently contorting his arms behind his back and placing him in handcuffs, which were excessively tight. Ms. Ramirez pleaded with the officers, but her pleas were ignored, and she and her child were pushed to the ground when they attempted to follow the Defendant Officers onto the elevator where they had taken Mr. Ali. Ms. Ramirez continued to follow the Defendants to the outside of the building, recording the incident on her phone, when the Defendant Officers John Doe 4-5 pushed her to the ground again, punched her in the left side of her face, and violently placed her under arrest, handcuffing her in an excessively tight fashion.\n\nThe Defendants transported Mr. Ali to Mount Sinai hospital, where he was treated for multiple injuries, including to his wrists, shoulders, and left thumb because the nail had been removed during his arrest. Ms. Ramirez was transported to the 34th Precinct. As a result, Ms. Ramirez was caused pain and discomfort in her wrists, severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and was in whole, cased to be illegally detained for a period of two (2) hours.
