The decedent refused to let the officers in. When decedent eventually opened his door but kept the screen door shut, officers forcibly broke it down and physically attacked him. Multiple officers beat the decedent and deployed tasers on him multiple times. The officers threw him to the ground and applied excessive pressure to his body, restricting his airway. Despite the decedent's dire medical situation resulting from the assault, officers did not provide medical aid. The decedent ultimately went into cardiac arrest and died. He complained of injuries suffered at the hands of the complainant and his family members and was taken to hospital. After requesting to be taken back for follow-up treatment, plaintiff finally returned to the police station at around 7:55pm. He later again requested to be taken back to the hospital and was escorted by P.O. Mui #4945. Unlike on previous occasions, P.O. Mui grabbed his left arm to handcuff him behind the rear, despite him stating that he was paralyzed in his left arm and could not be handcuffed in that position. Doctors intervened and asked the police officers present to stop but P.O. Mui again grabbed plaintiff and signalled to the other officers to help. One of the officers violently kicked plaintiff behind his kneecap, thereby bringing him to the ground using unnecessary force.
