When the plaintiff refused the wife’s request, the wife called the building doorman to have her removed. The doorman then contacted the police, who arrived to enforce the wife's demand.\n\nThe officers ordered the plaintiff to leave the apartment. She explained that leaving the man unattended could jeopardize his safety and that her employer had explicitly instructed her to remain. The plaintiff’s employer also contacted the officers directly to reiterate that the plaintiff must not leave. Officer Buckley followed her down the hallway toward the elevator, where he forcefully shoved her into the elevator, causing her to fall.
