He had done nothing illegal. Nevertheless, the defendant NYPD officers approached him from behind, telling him to pick up his belongings. One of the officers threw the boy's backpack off the train. As the officers and the boy exited the train and descended a staircase, the officers grabbed the boy, causing him to fall down. One of the officers then fell on top of the boy. While the boy cried for help, and while onlookers recorded the incident, the officers violently handcuffed the boy, causing him further pain. The officers then searched the boy before taking him to Transit Bureau 33.\n\nThe boy's mother, the plaintiff, learned through a friend who had witnessed the incident what happened. She went to the Transit Bureau, where her son was complaining of neck, back, arm, and knee pain from the arrest.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=vndtrvJX/F0m5pFITSkGsg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Gardner, Janice, et al. vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2017-01-10","payout_amount":0,"disposition":"","docket":"16CV06476","court":"U.S. District Court - Eastern District NY","officer_name":"Pratt, Emile","summary":"The plaintiffs were attending a family picnic when an unknown individual sexually harassed and assaulted one of the plaintiffs.
