Due to the stressful situation, Plaintiff Ifudu called 911 due to higher blood pressure and racing heart rate. The unnamed officers then unlawfully seized Plaintiff Ifudu and utilized excessive force by taking Plaintiff to the ground, putting his boot on her chest, and then putting his boot on the back of her neck when they handcuffed her. They attempted to grab her purse from her, but they had already handcuffed Plaintiff Ifudu. To get the bag, they uncuffed her. When she resisted giving it to them due to it containing her personal records, the officer told her threateningly that she would not need a bag where she was going. In the struggle to get her bag, the officer pulled the bag so forcefully that a ring on the bag got caught on Plaintiff Ifudu’s finger. This led to a cut that needed stitches: the police took her to Jamaica hospital while keeping her under custody. While at the hospital, Plaintiff Ifudu inquired about her bag and one police officer said it was left at her home; it was not at that location and the conduct of the police concluded with Plaintiff losing the bag. That included losing her diary, which included information regarding her bank accounts, social security, and will. The loss of the bag resulted in fraudulent checks being cashed and taking Plaintiff’s money, which was resolved with the bank.
