An officer struck plaintiff Luis Jame on his back with a closed fist while plaintiff was walking away from a safe. Plaintiff's life savings, constituting $6,000, were taken by the arresting officers, along with $47,000 belonging to plaintiff Javier Jaime. Officers later returned $34,378 of plaintiff Javier Jaime's appropriated funds, but not the remainder of the funds. The search, during which officers refused to present a warrant, resulted in the damage or destruction of numerous items, including plaintiffs' Playstation Portable console, X-box console, computer, and television. They also placed a gun in the vicinity of the incapacitated Plaintiff. Plaintiff underwent several surgeries to remove the bullets lodged into his body. Plaintiff were falsely charged with crimes, such as attempted murder. On June 27, 2014, he was acquitted of all charges, except for one count which he is currently appealing.
