The NYPD officers tightly handcuffed the plaintiffs causing pain and numbness in their hands. The plaintiffs asked if the handcuffs could be loosened or removed but the NYPD officers ignore their requests. When the plaintiffs inquired why they were being arrested, the NYPD officers threatened them with bodily harm, pushed, shoved, cursed, and screamed at them. People in the crowd who were fearful approached the NYPD officers but were threatened with arrest and bodily harm. When one plaintiff, complained about the verbal and physical abuse they were immediately subjected to abuse including being forcibly grabbed, slammed down on the floor, punched, kicked, and yelled at. The plaintiffs were dragged and pushed into the NYPD police vehicles. While at the precinct, the NYPD officers conducted an unlawful search of the plaintiffs. The NYPD officers did not find any contraband during their search however, they continued to detain the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs were detained for a lengthy period of time until being transported to Central Booking to wait for arraignment. The prosecutors believed the reports and statements from the NYPD officers and initiated criminal actions against the plaintiffs. The plaintiffs were arraigned and released on their own recognizance. Plaintiff Miller was in the passenger seat of a car, and when POs Brian Ramirez and Justin Vasquez yelled at the Plaintiffs for not social distancing, SH got into the driver's seat. PO Ramirez demanded to see SH's DL, which was provided. PO Vasquez demanded to see Miller's ID; Miller refused since he was not doing anything. Miller began recording the interaction with his cell, and PO Vasquez slapped it out of his hand and began hitting Miller. SH then began recording, and the officers threw him to the ground and PO Ramirez began striking him with a bit stick. Sgts Darren Caranella, and Troy Peacock and POs Sean Slowski, and Christopher Read pinned SH to the ground, kneeing and striking him as they placed handcuffs on him. Plaintiff Boyce began recording the assaults, and POs Ramirez, Vasquez began beating him. POs Charles Ji, Michael John, Stephen Rice, Sgt Troy Peacock, and Lts Alexander Bobo and Michael Parscale joined in the assault as they arrived. PO Stephen Rice tased Boyce for several seconds before handcuffing him. Boyce, SH, and Miller were taken to the 073 Precinct, where they were taunted by PO Vasquez and Ramirez. Ramirez chocked Miller in the precinct. SH and Miller were released at 3pm and Boyce was released shortly after 5pm on April 6 without having been charged nor seeing a judge. \nOn April 8, 2020, Plaintiff Denzel Bobb was driving his vehicle, looking for parking SH was in the passenger seat, and Shaquweice Mills was in the rear seat. As Bobb was about to park, plainclothes Sgt Samuel Hui and Steven Franzel with officers Keith Stark, Richard Catapano and Vincent D'Andraia arrived in unmarked cars. They alleged that the car had a broken tailight. As Bobb attempted to retrieve the vehicle registration he was asked for by Sgt Hui, he was pulled out of the vehicle and Hui, Stark, and Franzel began beating him. SH and Mills were taken out of the vehicle by Franzel and Catapano and forced to sit on the ground with their handcuffs throughout the assault. Hui pointed his taser at them. Plaintiff Lavon Bartholomew witnessed the assault began recording. PO Stark told him to turn off the light on his camera, Bartholomew complied. Stark and D'Andraia approached Bartholomew again, slapped his phone out of his hand, whereupon they began beating him along with PO Richard Catapano. Upon handcuffing him too tightly, Catapano smashed his head on the sidewalk. The officers accused Hudson of trespassing in a building he had not entered, pointed their firearms at him, struck him, and handcuffed him in a manner that caused unnecessary pain. Hudson did not resist arrest and was searched illegally without any cause. He was transported to the 73rd precinct, where he was searched again, and no illegal contraband was found.\n\nHudson was detained until December 28, 2019, and later transported to Central Booking in Kings County, where he was held under inhumane conditions, including being denied food and water and subjected to unsanitary and extreme conditions. He was released on December 29, 2019, after being brought before a judge and forced to return to court to face false criminal charges.
