Plaintiff was detained and arrested, and defendants applied handcuffs with excessive tightness. Plaintiff was moved into a prisoner transport vehicle rather than being issued a summons or processed on the street. Plaintiff was unlawfully interrogated without access to counsel or Miranda warnings; the interrogation included his political activities. While in custody, he asked for medical attention for his baton injuries, and Defendant Officer Auguste told him it would be a \"long night\" if he got medical care; this statement deterred Plaintiff from seeking medical attention (and thereby denied him care). Plaintiff was released with a summons two hours after his initial interactions with the police. The paperwork contained false allegations that Plaintiff pushed, slapped, and bit Officer Lester, and that Plaintiff kicked and physically fought with the officers. Defendant Officers repeated these false allegations during the testimony before a Grand Jury. Plaintiff's bail was set at a prohibitively high level and they were incarcerated at Riker's Island for several days. Plaintiff was prosecuted for more than two years.
