Fearing for her safety, Plaintiff went out of a window and onto a fire escape in order to avoid confrontation with the intruders. One of the officers saw Plaintiff go onto the fire escape, told her that he was a police officer, and told her to stop moving; Plaintiff complied immediately. After Plaintiff had been placed in handcuffs, one of the officers pushed her down a flight of stairs without provocation, causing immediate and severe pain to her neck and back. That same officer then forcefully shoved Plaintiff’s face into a pile of snow. Plaintiff was then placed in the back of a police van, where she remained for 6 hours before being transported to the 73rd Precinct, where she was treated for her physical injuries. The next morning, Plaintiff was transported to King County Central Booking, where she remained in police custody for 30 hours before she was arraigned and released.
