Ms. Wright was standing with a group of protesters and was attempting to film about 8-10 members of the NYPD, who  were piled on top of one man. At this time, as Plaintiff was attempting to film with her phone out, Defendant, NYPD Police Officer Hillery approached Ms. Wright from behind and restrained her in a bearhug, picked her up, and pulled her into the street. Defendants NYPD members John Does #1-3 then jumped on Ms. Wright, assaulting and arresting her. NYPD members which may have included John Does 1-3 and Hillery placed Ms. Wright in extremely tight plastic handcuffs and painfully twisted her left arm while doing so. Despite asking in excess of twenty times for the handcuffs to be loosened, Ms. Wright’s requests were ignored. Defendant NYPD Officer Nova stood directly next to Ms. Wright outside of a prisoner transport vehicle for at least an hour without wearing a mask.\n\nOn October 21, 2020, at approximately 4:00 PM, the second Plaintiff, Tameer Peak was present documenting a demonstration in support of then-President Donald Trump near the intersection of Vesey Street and Broadway in Manhattan. As Mr. Peak, a Black man, attempted to livestream the event, he was assaulted by\nseveral Trump supporters. Members of the NYPD witnessed Mr. Peak’s assault and did not intervene or attempt to hold responsible the people who assaulted Mr. Peak. Instead, Defendant NYPD Police Captain or Sergeant John Doe 4 grabbed Mr.\nPeak’s arms behind his back without any justification or excuse. Defendants NYPD Police Officer John Does 5-10 then swarmed Mr. Peak, attempted to force him to the ground, and then handcuffed him without and justification of excuse. Several of the Defendants dragged Mr. Peak across the ground, ripping his shirt and bending his right arm back. The Peak Defendants caused injury to Mr. Peak’s arm and leg. Mr. Peak was transported to a precinct and then to New York County Central Booking, where he was detained based on the false allegations of Defendants Does 4-10 and other NYPD members. After approximately 25 hours in custody, Mr. Peak was released without explanation and without being charged.\nMr. Peak was denied medication while in custody.\n\nOn November 4, 2020, the third Plaintiff, Valerie Nigg was present as a protester around the intersection of 8th Street and 5th Avenue near Washington Square Park when, at approximately 8:15 PM, Defendant NYPD Officer John Doe 11 pulled Ms. Nigg by the shoulder from behind, pushed her down onto her stomach and zip tied her hands behind her back in an excessively tight fashion. Ms. Nigg was transferred to a centralized arrest processing location, where she repeatedly complained to NYPD members about the excessive tightness\nof their cuffs but was ignored. The tightness of the cuffs caused Ms. Nigg to suffer numbness, pain, nausea, and dizziness. At approximately midnight on November 5, 2020, a member of the NYPD believed to be Defendant Giardina, issued Ms. Nigg a Summons based on false charges and allegations and released her from custody.\nOn or about May 19, 2021, Ms. Nigg’s charges were dismissed.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=KhC/qEn4TNdpn470aN8j7g==","type":"complaint"}]}],"payroll":{"salary":"109352","regular":"108510","overtime":"9488","other":"20060","total":"138059"},"id":"LBTM","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/LBTM"}
