The defendants entered the plaintiff's home without consent, a search warrant, or any legal authority. They told the plaintiff he was under arrest and had to go to the precinct, ignoring his physical disability resulting from a previous work injury. The defendants forcibly pushed the plaintiff to the floor, physically restrained him, and applied both handcuffs and ankle cuffs. They then picked him up by the restraints, carried him out of his bedroom, and down a flight of stairs, intentionally dropping him off the side of the stairs onto the floor while verbally cursing him. The plaintiff was taken to the 113th precinct, where his medical requests were ignored for four hours. He was eventually transported to a local hospital by other NYPD members and NYC fire department personnel. The plaintiff was unlawfully detained for approximately 24 hours. The defendants falsely charged the plaintiff with assault in the second and third degrees, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment. All charges were dismissed in favor of the plaintiff on October 23, 2018.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=/gcpVkDd6AWWGs9_PLUS_esV3Qg==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Jacobs, Jarzette, et al. as Proposed Adm of The Estate of Nicholson, Jahlire, et al. vs City of New York","start_date":"2018-07-12","disposition_date":"2022-09-13","payout_amount":962500,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"18CV03275","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","officer_name":"Decario, Daniel","summary":"Defendant Officers came to Plaintiff's home and tased, shot, and killed Plaintiff's son.
