She requested menstruation products but the Defendants refused to provide them to her and the Plaintiff bled through her pants. Due to the severity of the criminal charges, Plaintiff's bail was set at $15,000, which she could not afford. The was transported to Rose M. Singer Center on Riker's Island where she was held for an additional 4 days. Four police officers broke down both the outside door to the building and the door leading into Plaintiff’s apartment and came charging through the door. The officers, including Detective Murnane, struck Plaintiff in the face and took him down to his knees. Once on his knees, the officers continued to strike him and eventually maced him. He was handcuffed face down on the floor. Officer Murnane continued to strike him until another defendant officer told him to stop. Eventually, the officers escorted Plaintiff outside the home. He was placed in the front of the house for at least thirty minutes while several officers searched the home. No illegal substances or contraband were found inside. Plaintiff was taken to the 73rd precinct, where he repeatedly asked for medical attention because his face, eyes, and body were burning from the mace, and he was bleeding from his nose and mouth. For several hours, officers tried to convince Plaintiff that he didn’t need to go to the hospital and, if he insisted, his appearance before the judge would be delayed. Finally, he was escorted to Brookdale Hospital. \n\nThe following day, Plaintiff was brought before the judge, and bail was set. He was charged with assaulting an officer and other related offenses based on the false testimony of the defendant officers. He was sent to Riker’s Island until the bail was paid. Plaintiff made court appearances for the next two years and ten months before he was acquitted on all charges after trial.
