During the search, the two officers found two white unmarked pills in Mr. Pariante's pocket, to which he identified to be Tramadol prescribed by his doctor. The officers then began their own research of the drug on their phones and after completing their research, they asserted that the two pills were a controlled substance. The plaintiff was then cuffed and transported to a local precinct and unlawfully detained for 26 hours and later charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
