Strong was visibly pregnant. Both Plaintiffs were asleep when a group of 8 to 10 officers, including defendants, equipped with shields and automatic weapons, entered plaintiffs' bedroom, and proceeded to assault and batter both plaintiffs. During this incident, Strong was forcibly pulled by her arm and thrown to the ground on her stomach. Strong tried to turn on her side to protect her stomach, each time announcing, \"I'm pregnant.\" On each attempt by Strong to reposition herself, an officer took his boot, placed it on the back of Strong, applied his body weight and forced her down onto her stomach, causing visible bruising to her stomach. This officer repeated this 7 times during this incident. In the same moments, Rodgers was pulled from his bed onto the floor by his hair and forced to his knees and subjected to observe the assault on his pregnant girlfriend. Rodgers pleaded with officers to consider the health of Strong and his unborn child. Rodgers explained that his brother is a police officer. Officers responded \"fuck your brother,\" and \"we'll kill you.\" Rodgers was handcuffed, which were tightened to the point of inflicting severe pain to the wrist and forearm. Rodgers was arrested and charged with numerous crimes.
