Plaintiff then ran from the scene of the robbery when NYPD officer Defendants began chasing Plaintiff. Plaintiff, believing he was being chased by the individuals who had robbed him, continued to run. Defendants caught up to plaintiff and knocked him to the ground. Defendants then beat Plaintiff with their hands and batons. Plaintiff informed them he had just been robbed, but Defendants handcuffed him and continued beating him. Plaintiff sustained serious permanent injuries requiring follow-up medical treatment. Plaintiff was transferred to the precinct and then treated for medical injuries. He was charged with counts, including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and one court of criminal possession of a controlled substance. The Plaintiff alleges the officers gave false statements to justify their use of force.
