Beginning in 2010 and into early 2011, Plaintiff sought protection from members of the criminal justice community for assistance in her attempts to extricate herself from her batterer (and in November 2010 was even issued an order of protection). Rather than investigating her claims, Plaintiff was arrested and charged with hundreds of counts of aggravated harassment towards her batterer and one count of contempt of court resulting in Plaintiff's false arrest, malicious prosecution, unlawful imprisonment and defamation. In connection with this, the NYPD instructed and coerced witnesses to give false or unreliable testimony through their misuse of their powers of arrest and interrogation, unlawfully concealed exculpatory or impeachment evidence, and lied to or misled courts, defense attorneys and criminal defendants in order to cover up their lawful behavior.\n\nThe principal perpetrator of the above abuses was NYPD detective Linda Simmons who testified under oath that she investigated Plaintiff's claims when she did not, directed the preparation of false official records alleging Plaintiff fabricated her injuries sustained at the hands of her abuser, made false representations of fact, and lied to prosecutors regarding all of the above.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.445492/gov.uscourts.nysd.445492.2.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/4576740/price-v-simmons/"}],"discipline":[{"disposition_date":"2011-07-15","case_no":"2010-2156","penalty":"Vacation days (20 days)","charges":[{"desc":"While on duty, did abuse his authority as a member of the New York Police Department by improperly using physical force against a person known to the Department.","disposition":"Guilty"},{"desc":"While on duty, did abuse his authority as a member of the New York Police Department, in that said Police Officer threatened to arrest a person known to the Department without sufficient legal authority.","disposition":"Guilty"},{"desc":"While on duty, did fail and neglect to maintain said officer's activity log, as required.","disposition":"Guilty"}]},{"disposition_date":"2011-07-15","case_no":"2010-827","penalty":"Vacation days (20 days)","charges":[{"desc":"Having been involved in an unusual police occurrence, did thereafter fail to notify the desk officer, precinct of occurrence, of his involvement in an off-duty incident, as required.","disposition":"Guilty"},{"desc":"Having been involved in an unusual police occurrence, did thereafter fail to remain at the scene and to promptly request the response of a Patrol Supervisor, precinct of occurrence, as required.","disposition":"Guilty"},{"desc":"Made discourteous and disrespectful remarks to two individuals, known to the Department, with whom he engaged in a verbal dispute.","disposition":"Guilty"}]}],"image":"https://www.50-a.org/images/officer/MMLT-brian-shevitz.jpg","payroll":{"salary":"121048","regular":"120570","overtime":"57116","other":"21632","total":"199318"},"email":"brian.shevitz@nypd.org","id":"MMLT","url":"https://www.50-a.org/officer/MMLT"}
