The officers pretended that they had a justifiable cause to charge E. Watson a crime that he did not commit. The officers also threatened E. Watsons to get false confessions by accusing him of the above crime despite officers' knowledge of his innocence. At no time did the officers have a justifiable cause to arrest or batter E. Watson, but continued to maliciously prosecute E. Watson. At no time did the officers intervene to stop each others' misconduct. The district attorney subsequently declined to prosecute the case. While E. Watson was wrongfully detained without his consent, A. Watson experienced great fear for the safety of E. Watson. A. Watson also suffered from emotional distress due to the officers' intentional and negligent conduct. E. Watson and A.
