Defendant officers arrested plaintiffs without cause and charged each plaintiff with “criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.” Plaintiffs were then ordered by defendant officers to submit themselves to an illegal search, with defendant officers pushing, shoving, and kicking the plaintiffs. Even though defendant officers did not find anything illegal, defendant officers nonetheless tightly handcuffed the plaintiffs and refused requests to loosen the handcuffs. Plaintiffs were transported to the 26th Precinct, and, after detaining the plaintiffs for approximately twenty fours hours, defendant officers summarily released the plaintiffs. Additionally, on March 21, 2013, defendant officers arrested plaintiff Maurice Culp, without cause. When plaintiff inquired as to the reason why he was bring stopped, defendant officers grabbed, kicked, and hit the plaintiff with great force, causing the plaintiff to sustain serious injuries. Eventually, plaintiff was transported by EMS to Harlem Hospital Center, and then the Central Booking. Plaintiff was then transported to Rikers Island Correctional Facility, and incarcerated for several days.
