Upon arrival, Plaintiff and his brother were assaulted by a group of men who worked for the old business partner. Plaintiff and his brother suffered physical injuries which were visibly obvious. Plaintiff's brother called the police. Defendants Police Officer Michael McGuire, PO Salvatorre Provenzano, PO Carl Rordamel, PO Matthew Miller, PO Jillian Flannagan, PO Tjortjoglou, and Police Officers Doe 1-9 arrived at the scene. \n\nDespite seeing the ripped clothing and paint on Plaintiff and his brother, the Defendants (seeing a situation between two black men - Plaintiff and his brother - and a group of white men - the attackers) decided to escalate and use extreme force on Plaintiff and his brother. Defendants pointed at least two tasers at Plaintiff and his brother. Defendant Rordamel pointed a handgun at Plaintiff and his brother. Without justification, Defendant McGuire deployed his taser on Plaintiff's brother, and continued to shock him for over ten seconds. Because of the paint, there was a channel for the taser charge to spread, which officers are trained not to fire a taser under those circumstances. Despite the need for medical attention, Defendant officers advised paramedics to treat the attackers first, despite the fact they had suffered no injuries. \n\nPlaintiff asked Defendants for water, one of the Defendant officers gave Plaintiff a plastic bottle that the officer told Plaintiff he took out of the trash and filled with water. Plaintiff then committed in the cell and was taken to the hospital where he was forced to stand with shackles on his wrists and ankles for 9 hours, which led to severe bruising. At one point, Defendant Miller denied Plaintiff access to medical attention when he repeatedly asked for a doctor.","documents":[{"url":"https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.609617/gov.uscourts.nysd.609617.15.0.pdf","type":"complaint"}],"url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67952977/rijper-greenidge-v-mcguire/"},{"name":"Greenidge, Lucas Rijper vs Mcguire, Michael, et al.","start_date":"2023-10-26","payout_amount":0,"disposition":"","docket":"23CV06980","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","url":"https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67675775/greenidge-v-mcguire/"},{"name":"Garrett, Darnell vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2018-01-17","disposition_date":"2019-04-30","payout_amount":0,"disposition":"Zero Disposition","docket":"17CV07217","court":"U.S. District Court - Southern District NY","officer_name":"McGuire, Michael","summary":"On September 16, 2014, plaintiff was verbally abused by two police officers for yelling to get the attention of his friend.
