Without warning or cause, a marked police car pulled up and three of the Defendants jumped from the vehicle. Completely unprovoked, the officers ran over and punched Plaintiff Shakespeare, who was a minor at the time, directly in the face, and proceeded to viciously assault him. Then multiple additional officers arrived, and the Individual Defendants began assaulting Plaintiffs without cause or justification. Plaintiffs were then detained and arrested by the Individual Defendants without probable cause and transported to PSA 7. The Individual Defendants refused to provide Plaintiffs with medical treatment and would not allow them to make phone calls. Plaintiffs were wrongfully searched, booked, photographed, fingerprinted, and otherwise subjected to unlawful detention for approximately six to seven hours before they were released with desk appearance tickets for disorderly conduct and/or other petty offenses. All charges were dismissed in Plaintiffs' favor prior to appearing in court.","documents":[{"url":"https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/nyscef/ViewDocument?docIndex=AiMOUmVW7pKuGVEvHbx6hA==","type":"complaint"}]},{"name":"Mathis, Dontay vs City of New York, et al.","start_date":"2019-10-30","disposition_date":"2020-10-22","payout_amount":19500,"disposition":"Settlement","docket":"032635/2019","court":"Supreme Court - Bronx","officer_name":"Arroyo, Keventh","summary":"On August 30, 2019, as Plaintiff entered a bodega, Defendant Police Officers unlawfully stopped, questioned, frisked, searched, assaulted, battered, falsely arrested, and falsely imprisoned Plaintiff.
